Cracking the Code on Healthcare
May 24, 2012
Two years ago, Healthcare Benefit Network set out on a journey to bring complex, important and timely healthcare topics to the community in a format that was both informative and interactive. Together we explored the topics of Patient Safety and Quality, Healthcare IT, Population Health and Payment Reform.
Each of these events was focused squarely on improving patient care and reducing costs.
In this, our 5th Cracking the Code on Healthcare event in Rochester, we will look at our healthcare challenges from a different perspective, through the eyes of the patient. With a series of keynote presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions we will pull back the curtain on the Affordable Care Act to see how it will affect each of us as patients. We will explore:
- What has been proposed for patient care and protection in the ACA?
- What is currently being done to achieve the ACA patient goals and objectives?
- What are patient advocacy groups doing to insure care for every American?
- What are employers, providers and payers currently doing to prepare?
- What can each of us as patients expect in care and cost?
- The political front!!
Each of us, whether a patient, employer, provider or payer is working hard to achieve the same dream - effective, patient-centered care that is affordable and accessible for EVERY American. To that end we have identified our two keynote speakers:
- Senior Fellow, The Brookings Institute
- Director of the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform
- Leonard D. Schaeffer Chair in Health Policy Studies
- Former Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
- Former Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
- Former Member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers
- Former Senior Director for Healthcare Policy at the White House.
- President, National Partnership for Women & Families
- Member of the Board of Directors of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
- Chairs the Consumer Advisory Council of the NCQA
- Serves on the Board of the National Quality Forum (NQF)
- Co-chairs the Consumer-Purchaser Disclosure Project
- Co-chairs the QASC Patient-Reported Measurement Workgroup
- Recent Member of the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation (ABIMF)
Additional information on the Panel Discussion and Breakout Session Topics will be added as plans are finalized. Visit us often for the latest updates.
